Material
Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) - Development Software
The OSHA Hazard Communication Standard
29 CFR 1910.1200 and State Right to Know Laws require the development
and use of Material Safety Data Sheets for all hazardous products.
It is an important responsibility placed on both manufacturers and
users of hazardous materials.
However, determining the hazards
of a material (or mixture of hazardous materials) is a complex task
requiring a great deal of technical expertise and considerable research.
OEHCS offers a number of services
to aid manufacturers, distributors and end users in dealing with
this liability-ladened regulatory requirement.
Development and Computerization
OEHCS can develop Material Safety
Data Sheets for single-component materials and multi-component materials
from currently available computerized databases. This can include
both NFPA and HMIS ratings. In addition, for new compounds, OEHCS
can arrange research studies to determine necessary toxicity and
hazard rating information.
Review and Upgrading
Regulations require that newly available
information be added to MSDSs within 90 days. However, many existing
MSDSs are significantly deficient in one or more pieces of important
information. OEHCS can review your current MSDSs and upgrade them
with the latest information. This service is especially important
to the chemical user, since they are responsible for communicating
chemical hazards to the employees who use them.
Computerization
MSDS information can be input into
a database linked with a forms generator for easy MSDS program management.

without any other services.) |
