1973 - Developed
statistical analysis techniques to show Clean Air Act violations
with only six weeks of air quality monitoring.
1975 - Participated
in the first study of ethylene oxide exposure levels of uncontrolled
sterilization operations by medical products manufacturer.
1976 - Conducted
the first retrospective study of adverse blood impacts of workers
exposed to high levels of radio frequency radiation.
1977 - Identified
allergic response to psyllium husk in OTC production workers by
retrospective study of illness records.
1977 - Introduced
the use of ergonomic analysis for carpal tunnel syndrome incidence
reduction.
1978 - Developed
one of the first ventilation systems to control estrogen and progesterone
exposure during manufacturing to eliminate the development of gynecomastia
(growing breasts) in men.
1979 - Validation
of Cleaning Methods for major medical products manufacturer Microbial
efficacy studies of various cleaning methods at many medical device
manufacturing facilities worldwide.
1982 - Developed
the first equations for modeling indoor air quality to control chemical
exposure in clean rooms.
1983 - Developed
toxicological evaluation and exposure modeling for setting chemical
exposure limits for employees for which no regulations exist. Presented
paper on this topic at the Pharmaceutical Manufacturer's Association
annual conference.
1983 - Developed
minimum standard ventilation techniques to control ethylene oxide
exposure levels.
1983 - Served as
a consultant to the Health Industry Manufacturers Association as
part of the team to overview the largest retrospective epidemiological
study ever done of workers exposed to ethylene oxide.
1983 - Developed
a computer program to analyze accident statistics and predict future
catastrophic losses. Review and test use of program was submitted
as a Ph. D. thesis in Public Health at the University of Illinois,
School of Public Health.
1983 - Served as
a coauthor and executive producer of the first video and training
program on the new OSHA Hazard Communication Standard for the Health
Industry Manufacturers Association. Over $150,000 of copies sold
to HIMA members and other companies. The section on chemical spills,
was sold to other companies to be used as part of their training
videos.
1983 - Conducted
the first retrospective study of workers exposed to low levels of
organic solvents in chemical dispensing operations.
1983 - Introduced
the use of electrical myelography in job task design to engineer
out ergonomically undesirable tasks.
1984 - Investigation
of an ethylene oxide explosion in Puerto Rico using computer modeling
to simulate cause and determine that two explosions actually occurred.
1984 - OEHCS develops
first PCB spill prevention countermeasure and clean-up (SPCC) response
plan developed for transformer removal in response to new TSCA regulation.
1985- OEHCS develops
"hands on" standards for development and implementation
of Hearing Conservation Programs, Respiratory Protection Programs,
Hazard Communication, Labeling of Hazardous Materials
1985- OEHCS pioneers
the use of international exposure limits in evaluating indoor air
quality problems.
1985 - Copresenter

1985 - OEHCS designs
P3 containment facility for working with infectious agents
1986 - Copresenter

1986 - American
Hospital Association requests OEHCS to develop a hazard communication
manual for all hospitals nationwide.
1986 - OEHCS pioneers
the development of computer-generated labels showing pictograms
for personal protective equipment and target organs. Label system
is linked to a computer file that automatically includes various
state labeling requirements. System automatically updates all labels
for regulatory changes.
1986 - OSHA requests
OEHCS founder to present training to its inspectors on ethylene
oxide sterilization operations, since its founder has reviewed over
50% of sterilization facilities nationwide and in Puerto Rico.
1986 - OEHCS pioneers
high volume air sampling and analysis by gas chromatography/mass
spectroscopy in indoor air quality studies. EPA recommends this
technique 5 years later in 1991.
1986 - OEHCS conducts
study of spontaneous abortion cluster and possible links to indoor
air quality in a high-rise office building.
1986 - Validation
of Sterilizer Operation at Medical Diagnostics Manufacturer in Indiana
Studied the efficacy of ethylene oxide sterilizer operations for
medical device manufacturer.
1987 - OEHCS pioneers
the uses of multipoint sequential sampling to determine sources
and migration of chemicals in indoor air quality problems on a real
time basis.
1987 - OEHCS pioneers
the use of computer modeling of indoor air quality in court case
to demonstrate the feasibility of probable cause of symptoms. EPA
first publishes equations for indoor air quality modeling three
years later, in 1990.
1987 - Copresenter

1988 - OEHCS conducts
study of possible link of indoor air quality to cluster of breast
cancer cases.
1988 - OEHCS develops
first guideline for compatible chemical storage for industry. Program
includes logic for use with computer inventory control system.
1988 - Copresenter

1989 - OEHCS conducts
first research into sources of lead emission in institutional coffee
makers. Information is presented to FDA and National Sanitary Foundation.

OEHCS serves as consultant and member on Ink Manufacturers Committee
for the Screen Printing Association International/Screen Graphics
Industry Association.
1989 - Asbestos
radon and microbial assessment of abandoned, partially demolished
monastery being converted to condos.
1990 - OEHCS develops
the first computer program that links to a database which generates
regulatory reports for local governmental agencies. Database includes
all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
1991 - OEHCS authors
chapter on regulatory compliance in The Medical Device Industry
- Science, Technology, and Regulation in a Competitive Environment.
1991 - Comprehensive
indoor air quality study of a new court house with SBS.
1992 - OEHCS authors
chapter on regulatory compliance and future regulatory concerns
for Sterilization Technology reference book.
1992 - OEHCS develops
hazardous material training video for nurseries.
1992 - OEHCS investigates
indoor air quality problem involving over 400 elementary school
students. Identifies design problem in electrical heating system.
1992 - OEHCS investigates
indoor air quality problem in hospital OR suite. Identifies new
unventilated sterilization process as cause of problem.
1992 - OEHCS completes
design review for noise barriers for suburban communities along
interstate highway. Identifies design errors by toll highway authority
and negotiates improved barriers for local communities.
1993 - OEHCS mitigates
explosive gas problem in home built over landfill.
1993 - OEHCS completes
major indoor air quality investigation involving over 600 employees
in courthouse facility. Over 400 pages were written detailing ventilation
design errors in the building.

as Project Designer for multimillion dollar asbestos removal project
in 3 schools.
